Butylal is an acetal solvent that is is non-flammable and non-toxic. It can be classed as a green solvent, as it doesn't contain halogens. Butylal is a more environmentally friendly and healthier substitute for perchlorethylene, with a degreasing power more than that of D-Limonene and other dearomatic hydrocarbons. Butylal is a proven replacement for D-Limonene in home care cleaning as a strong degreaser and effective bitumen and asphalt cleaner, and in personal care as a good solubilizer of silicones, waxes, oils (mineral, vegetal and essential) and other lipophylic substances such as perfumes and UV filters.
